Silver Ribbon Campaign for the Brain

About the Silver Ribbon Campaign for the Brain:
The Silver Ribbon Campaign for the Brain promotes public awareness of the need for emotional, social, governmental, and research support of these individuals. Increasing public awareness will decrease stigma and increase support to result in improved treatment and eventual cures for those affected.
In July 2006, ASHA International joined forces with the Silver Ribbon Coalition to ensure that the Silver Ribbon will be formally recognized as a universal symbol of hope and solidarity for all individuals affected by brain disorders.
In July 2006, Silver Ribbon Global Ambassador Gayathri Ramprasad, President of ASHA International, visited her native India on the Rally for Recovery World Tour during which she promoted the Silver Ribbon Campaign for the Brain. Gayathri met with representatives from various support and advocacy organizations for persons with brain disorders, especially those of a neuropsychiatric nature.
It is the hope of ASHA International and the Silver Ribbon Coalition that soon the Silver Ribbon will be formally recognized as a universal symbol of hope and solidarity for all individuals affected by brain disorders in India with the efforts of advocacy groups such as Schizophrenia Awareness Association (SAA), Richmond Fellowship Society – India (RFS), and Nodal Association for Mentally Ill (NAMI India).
